“The commission arrived as a single sentence: 'I want the house to feel as if it has always been here.' The response was to embed sculpture into the architecture rather than place it within — a limestone threshold carved from the same quarry as the building's facade stone; a bronze handrail that narrows as it rises, its patina darkening from gold at ground level to near-black at the first floor; a water channel that runs along the east garden wall at a gradient of 1:100, too gentle to hear but visible as movement. The three elements were designed simultaneously, installed over fourteen days.”
