“The concept derives from the cosmological model of the world-axis — the still centre around which all rotation occurs. The column's single spiral groove, cut in a single continuous pass from base to crown, represents both rotation and stillness: the groove turns but the column does not. Sourced from the Rajasthan quarries, the black granite contains visible feldspathic inclusions that catch sunlight differently at dawn and dusk, making the column appear to change colour across the day.”
