Origin & Inspiration
“Sourced from the Fantiscritti quarry in northern Tuscany, the block arrived in the studio with a natural flaw — a grey limestone seam running diagonally through the mass. Rather than discard the stone, the sculptor worked toward the imperfection, allowing it to become the compositional axis of the finished work. The carving took seven months, each session beginning with the removal of no more than a centimetre, the form emerging through subtraction alone.”

Technique
Hand-carved using pneumatic and hand chisels across seven months. No mechanical cutting beyond initial quarry cuts.
Finish
Three-stage hand polishing: coarse diamond pad → fine abrasive cloth → carnauba wax seal. Matte on rear, satin on front face.
